Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

While we only have one day to celebrate motherhood, it should be celebrated every single day. The cliche’ is behind every great man, there is a great woman. I am surrounded by them. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without my own mother and the girl I knocked up…twice (my wife).

Motherhood is a tall order. My wife has answered that challenge with grace. Her lifelong dream was to be a mom and our hearts are filled with love thanks to the two knuckleheads that know her as mama.

Last year, I wrote this column for mother’s day which talks about that journey: Happy Mother’s Day: Thank You For Giving Me the Greatest Gift Imaginable – Hotard Huddle

If you like the sappy shit, enjoy. For some light reading for mother’s day, here are my 7 favorite TV moms. I know 7 is an odd number to roll out for this, but I just ranked the ones I could think of off the top that jump out as ones I love. Here it goes…

8. Edith Bunker, All In the Family

A perfect compliment to Archie. One is a grumpy old piece of shit. Then there’s Edith, the tender hearted yet delightfully ignorant loving soul. She was often the voice of reason, especially sitting next to Archie. Bless your heart, Edith. Thank you Jean Stapleton for one of the most iconic roles in TV show history.

7. Vivian Banks, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

No matter which Aunt Viv is your favorite, both are absolutely bad asses and wonderful mothers. Remember that whole bit about behind every strong man is a strong woman. Aunt Viv is the epitome of that to the always loved Uncle Phil.

6. Amy Matthews, Boy Meets World

Oh good ole Amy. The mom with continuity errors galore. I love her. This of course has to do with my love for the show in and of itself. There were moments where Amy actually reminded me of my own mother. She would get emotionally choked up at parts in the show talking about her children growing or when she felt slighted. Your heart would break for her.

5. Kitty Forman, That 70’s Show

Much like Edith was a perfect compliment to Archie, Kitty was a perfect compliment to Red. Her loving and caring nature was highlighted in convincing Red that they should let Hyde live with them after his mom walked out.

4. Danaerys Targaryen, Game of Thrones

Queen Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, Lady of Dragonstone, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons. It’s in her full title for god sake, the old and the new of course. Raising kids is hard. Try raising dragons. It counts. Plus she is a total bad ass. DRACARYS!

3. Carol Brady, The Brady Bunch

Left by her ex husband to raise three girls, we know that story. She is a strong woman who chooses to be a stay at home mom. That is only a small part of who she is. She dips her hand into multiple areas of life including political activism and freelance writing.

2. Andrea Savage, I’m Sorry

Certainly not the perfect mom. Andrea certainly finds herself in completely awkward situations as a mom. It is all the more reason why I am obsessed with her and would totally wife her up. She may be more inappropriate than me.

1. Sophia Petrillo, Golden Girls

Absolute savage. That’s all you need to know.
